Some clients bleed a little when needles are removed.

If your blood coagulates normally, you can have acupuncture. Your practitioner is likely to use fewer needles in your first treatment in order to assess your bleeding. More needles may be used at second and subsequent appointments.

Yes, but you might find yourself unable to receive the needles. You won’t be able to see the needles but we do use them. You may prefer for us to work with ear seeds in this instance.

Anyone who books an acupuncture session with Jennifer Young is welcome to bring a guest who has been diagnosed with cancer. Your guest will be gifted an auricular acupuncture treatment. Their treatment will be carried out in the same room as you at the same time as you receive your treatment. Your treatment beds are next to each other as are your treatment chairs.

In summary, you share your space with your guest at all times.

We recommend weight management needling twice a week for as long as it takes to reach your objective. We appreciate that this is not possible for everyone. It’s just a recommendation.

No. We only need to get to your ears. If your practitioner wants to add body points into your treatment this will be done after full discussion and consent and, even then, you probably won’t have to get undressed.

Practitioners in the Jennifer Young Clinic will never work with someone affected by cancer if they are unwell.

We ask clients to re-arrange their appointment if unwell.
We use sterile needles which are disposed of in a sharps box.

We assume everyone has low immunity and our clinic protocols reflect this assumption.

A probe and magnet are sometimes used, these are disinfected between uses and they are not used on broken skin.

We have strict and rigorous hygiene protocols in place. You will see all practitioners at the Jennifer Young clinic washing their hands regularly.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you. We can use needles to calm you. One of our most nervous clients described the impact of one needle (her first) as like being in a warm bath. Another described the experience as being wrapped, all over in a heated blanket.

Yes. Many NHS centres and cancer support charities offer courses of auricular acupuncture. We are not alone in recognising the benefits of this therapy to those affected by cancer.
